Student Sit In at UC office in Berkeley

Breaking Cal News: Student Protest Turns Hostile at UC Regents Office in Berkeley

Approximately 150 students have staged a "Takeover" at the University of California Regents office.  The office handles administrative, executive and financial duties for the UC system, which includes Pac 10 schools University of California at Berkeley (Cal) and University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

The protest is in response to a whopping 32% increase in state tuition fees.

It is not news that both Cal and UCLA have stellar and big time sports programs, that generate tens of millions of dollars of revenue for both the individual schools sports programs and into the general Regents fund.  Helping to fund lesser known University of California campuses, such as UC Riverside in Southern California, Or UC San Diego.

There are UC campuses up and down and across the state, but only the Berkeley and Los Angeles campuses have major sports teams.

The UC system is renowned for being among the most academically progressive and prestigious in the country.

Students from Berkeley and UCLA routinely compete on a level academic field with the likes of Harvard, Yale or Stanford.

The difference, however, is that the schools just mentioned are all private, and outside of the financial means of many of the students that attend Cal or UCLA.

The tuition rise is significant and has sparked protests at campuses across the state.

College Football TV Schedule for Sept 26, 2009

Well, I would discuss last week’s games, but it seems like those were so long ago, I can hardly remember them (the week sure does seem to get longer and longer during football season)…the FSU game does stand out though…have to give props to the Seminoles... wow!

Big game between those Hokies and Canes…still waiting for a big SEC game (yawn), but those will definitely start heating up come October…

me

A little history on this Blog:  My bestest friend of 17 years that I love with my whole heart, Billy Vizzini, used to send out the Weekly TV Football Schedule to me and others for years.  It became the Saturday 'Bible'.  When Billy got sick with cancer (at 36 years old) in August of '07, I took over the distribution of the always anxiously awaited Weekly Football Schedule, hoping it was only going to be a temporary duty, but unfortunately we lost Billy three months later, in October of that same year.   So, when you see the watermark on the schedule showing BV in a ribbon of Mardi Gras colors, you'll know that is in remembrance to this amazing man that has touched so many and was obviously too damn good to be stuck here in this world.

That being said. attached is this week's football schedule for the TELEVISED games nationwide.  If you do not see your team on the schedule, it is simply because their game is not getting television coverage, more than likely due to the fact they are playing some Podunk team that will no doubt lower their strength of schedule and be laughed at by others (just sayin is all!).
